RESET

Today is my Day 1 reset. According to Merriam Webster Dictionary, “Reset” means to set again or anew. This is what I need. For the past 6 years, I’ve treated my body like a rag doll. I’ve ingested far too many McDonald’s double cheeseburgers, Wendy’s fries dipped in frosty, and Miller Lites. I even developed a disgusting habit of dipping. In case you don’t know what dipping is, it is the act of taking unfiltered tobacco and shoving it in your mouth to allow the tobacco to seep into your blood stream, at which point a buzz develops. This has led to awful indigestion, burning acid reflux, and a weight gain of about 56 pounds. Even worse, my mental state has left me moderately depressed. Then, about 3 weeks ago, I slipped and stumbled down 15 stairs. Thankfully, I walked away from that incident. But the feeling laying there, helpless


It is time to reset. Now is the time to start my journey to re-establish my healthy habits that I once followed to a tee. I choose to become reinvigorated to chase my dreams (this doesn’t mean I’ll never have another double cheeseburger, but moderation is key). To keep me on track and focused, I am going to blog about setbacks, pitfalls, and progresses. I’ll also share motivations, inspirations and other tidbits I learn along the way. Hopefully, it’ll also help others out there that are in similar situations.


My first step in this journey is to join Diet Bet, weight loss challenge. Each participant bets a certain amount of $ each month to hit certain goals over a 6 month period. At the end, everybody that hits their goals shares the pot. Those who do not meet their goals, lose their bet. Today, I weighed 216.6.
